So, it's almost a week later and I have enough guilt to go around for everyone for having to have traveled and miss Jaxon's actual birthday, but I think he survived and I believe we made up for it. Chris's family was actually suppose to be out here this week so we had actually had planned months ago to move his birthday celebration to the weekend, and therefore I was going to go to Atlanta during the week. But when his family had to cancel, and his birthday came, and Mommy wasn't there, the sting of that was pretty painful. Especially since our plan to "ignore" his birthday was squashed by daycare having a big celebration for him! Chris picked Jaxon up that afternoon and Jaxon ran to him wearing a huge Birthday crown scream "Daddy! Today's my Birthday!" Thanks guys! I suck! It took me an entire five days to get over that one!
Jaxon must have changed his mind three or four times on the theme of his birthday party. He at first wanted Horton! But of course no Elephant themes were around. Then he switched to Alvin and the CHICKmunks...and again...NO themes to go with that either. So the morning before I left for Atlanta, Jaxon and I snuggled in bed and got on mom's "compooter" and he finally decided on Spiderman! Whew! So after after being gone all week in Atlanta, we all woke up early on Saturday, the day of Jaxon's party and we all "struggled" to put a party together. But eventually, our efforts prevailed, and Pookie, bless his precious little heart, got his Spiderman party!
Everyone showed up around 6:30 and the party began! Jaxon was so excited to have all his "pals" a.k.a. cousins here! The kids all did what they always do which is instantly run around in a complete frenzy (Which Aunt Nat loves...truly!) and the rest of us just sat around doing what we do best...feeding our faces and poking fun at whomever isn't here. Which in this case was Jr! And while we're on the subject...David, just because you are in "dating" mode doesn't mean you are exempt from family functions! You have been gone for two years...get your butt to your Nephews' and Nieces' birthdays! Alright!
Uncle Boyd was in town which was a great addition to the guest list. I of course enjoyed giving him the Cole version of "Uncle Ralph's Home Tour" and while that was happening, Uncle Ryan took the kids all to the park! Thanks Ryan for the repreave!
We eventually did get to presents and Jaxon was beyond thrilled. Princess Isabelle of course STILL has a difficult time understanding that she doesn't get to open everyone's presents at every birthday. And of course it's always one of us that has to break her heart in sending her over to her mom! (Thanks Stacey for stepping in!) But eventually, Jaxon got through his presents and he was so excited. Chris and I took a bit of crap for getting him his own "HiPod" but ya'll need to remember how old his siblings are and that he's a bit old for his age because of it. He was so happy and well that's all that counts. Judge away I guess! :-)
We quickly had Spiderman Cake and Ice Cream because that's what Jaxon wanted. And then that's when Jaxon took on his Uncle Jett in a battle of Guitar Hero. Uncle Boyd had never seen or heard of Wii, let alone Guitar Hero so he was in for a real treat! However the real treat was seeing Jett being humbled by his four-year old Nephew! Jaxon wooped him! Go Jaxon! It was awesome! We all had a great evening!
Anyway...it was a really long day, but well worth it, and I hope you had a great birthday Pookie! Mommy loves you soooo much!
